Osteoporosis

Women are four times more likely than men to develop osteoporosis or thinning bones.  Osteoporosis is a disease where your bones become weak and can break (or fracture) easily. It is the leading cause of fractures in older adults. People who are over age 70 and women who have gone through menopause are more likely to develop the disease.  Spalding Regional offers education, screenings and treatment for osteoporosis. Our board certified orthopedic surgeons treat osteoporosis as well as offer sports medicine programs that specialize in prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of women’s injuries.

Urology

Bladder control problems are a sensitive subject for many people. Because of embarrassment, sufferers may hesitate to call a doctor. This is a mistake. These problems are common and medical help is available. Spalding Regional Medical Center offers diagnostic tests for these problems on an outpatient basis.

Gynecology

All women are encouraged to have an annual checkup and gynecological exam, including a blood pressure check and a physical exam in which a doctor examines the thyroid, breasts, abdomen, pelvis and rectum. The annual exam also includes a pap smear and other tests ordered by the physician.  Spalding Regional provides hospital care and surgery, if needed, for gynecological disorders. Women can rest and heal in our new Women’s Center, which features warm wood tones and a comfortable setting. Rooms include flat screen televisions and DVD players.
