Breastfeeding Benefits

Quality Care

From prenatal diagnostics to labor and delivery services to a Level 2 Intermediate Care nursery, Spalding Regional delivers quality care with advanced technology and contemporary facilities. Private, beautifully appointed patient rooms include appealing touches that make new mothers comfortable. The suites also include an in-room sleeper sofa for dad or other family members and flat-screen TV with DVD player.

Our obstetricians and pediatricians are all board certified and our nursing staff consistently rates 5 stars in patient satisfaction ratings.

Family-Centered Birth Approach

Our Labor/Delivery/Recovery rooms have many special touches that offer privacy and create a home-like setting. No matter what kind of birth experience you may choose, our nurses will guide and help you throughout the process. Siblings are welcome to meet the new baby in their mother’s room or through the glass in the nursery. The Women’s Center also includes dedicated operating rooms for C-section deliveries if needed.

Newborn Nurseries

The Women’s Center has a newborn nursery as well as a Level 2 Intermediate Care nursery to take care of babies requiring extra special care. The intermediate care unit is staffed by specially trained physicians, registered nurses and respiratory therapists who give your baby care 24 hours a day.

Support and Sensitivity

Our staff is experienced, professional, caring and sensitive to your needs. Our Women’s Center patients have consistently rated us 5 Stars in our patient satisfaction surveys. Preparing new parents is a priority. Our nursing staff teach mom and family members how to change diapers, wrap and feed the newborn.

Breastfeeding Support

Our Lactation Consultant, Gayle Owen is an RN, MSN and IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.)  Gayle is available for mothers that have breastfeeding concerns, or questions.

Additionally, she is available to our ob patients during their prenatal care for breastfeeding assessment, and again after you return home if you have further questions.

Precious Memories

Families have the opportunity for photos to be taken of their newborn.  These photos can be securely posted on our online Virtual Nursery to share with friends and family.
