What is PAD?
Peripheral Artery Disease, or PAD, is a circulation problem that can reduce the blood flow to your arms and legs. People who have PAD have a greater risk of having a heart attack or stroke.

Risk factors of PAD include:

  • Smoking
  • Older than age 50
  • Diabetes
  • Overweight
  • High blood pressure
  • High cholesterol

Symptoms of PAD include:

  • Numbness or weakness in your legs
  • Cold legs or feet
  • Sores on your toes, feet or legs that won’t heal
  • Change in color of your leg hair, loss on the feet or legs
  • Changes in your nails

If you have two or more of the above symptoms, you may want to be screened for PAD.
