Those who have Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) health insurance don’t need to worry about losing access to Spalding Regional Medical Center (SRMC) for non-emergency health care — the hospital’s parent company has reached an agreement with BCBS.
Tenet Healthcare Corp. announced Friday a new agreement with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia, effective July 1, 2010. The financial terms were not disclosed, per the agreement.
According to a news release, the new arrangement covers Tenet’s five acute-care hospitals in Georgia — Atlanta Medical Center, North Fulton Hospital, South Fulton Medical Center, Spalding Regional Medical Center and Sylvan Grove Hospital — as well as stand-alone outpatient centers.
“We’re pleased that we’ve reached an agreement and we regret any anxiety that was caused to people in the community who have Blue Cross,” SRMC Chief Executive Officer John Quinn said.
He said he appreciates the concern of Blue Cross Blue Shield policy-holders who called SRMC and expressed their wish to continue using the hospital.
