A medical emergency or serious injury can happen at any time. That’s why Spalding Regional Medical Center's Emergency Department is here.
Spalding Regional Medical Center Emergency Department is equipped to handle emergencies. If needed, patients can be quickly transferred by helicopter to a nearby trauma center or specialty hospital. Our team of physicians, nurses and staff members are always here and ready to provide quality care when you need it most.
What to expect on your visit
An emergency room doesn’t operate on a first-come, first-served basis; instead patients are seen based on severity of injury or illness to ensure that the most severe patients are treated first.
First, you will check in with Registration. Then, you will see a triage nurse in the Emergency Department. The nurse will check your vital signs (temperature, pulse, blood pressure, etc.) and get a brief medical history, including information on current treatments or medications.
Once you see the triage nurse, you will usually go through registration. This is where you provide details such as your name, address, telephone number and insurance information.
Your wait time to see a physician will vary depending on how many patients are waiting ahead of you and the level of critical cases.
Fast Track
During peak times, Spalding Regional Medical Center’s Emergency Department has a “fast track” area to treat less urgent patients with more minor illnesses or injuries.
