Griffin, GA – January 12, 2011.   The American Academy for Sleep Medicine has recognized Spalding Regional Medical Center’s “Center for Sleep Medicine.”  The accreditation recognizes Spalding Regional’s “Sleep Center” status to diagnose, treat and maintain patients with various sleep disorders.  As an accredited Sleep Center, services provided will also qualify under most insurance providers. This designation was based on a recent accreditation survey conducted in November, 2010.

The survey focused on patient safety, but also included interviews with Dr. Vinod Mehta, Medical Director for Sleep Medicine at Spalding Regional; as well as Dr. John DuPre, Dr. Hari Modichetty and Dr. Rosa Adamczyk, assuring the quality of the sleep studies provided through the hospital’s Sleep Center. Studies are provided at the sleep labs located at 223 West College Avenue in Griffin, as well as a center in Locust Grove located within Town Center at Heron Bay. George Daniel, Director of Sleep Medicine at Spalding Regional Medical Center believes “this accreditation demonstrates the commitment to provide a high level of care and patient follow-up in our sleep studies.  Our goal has always been to provide a safe and comfortable setting to perform the sleep study, and to provide our patient with an assessment and treatment to improve their health.  We’re proud to be recognized by the American Academy for Sleep Medicine with this distinction, validating our standard of quality and allowing us to plan for the future of our center.”

Spalding Regional’s Centers for Sleep Medicine provide adult and pediatric (ages 3 and older) sleep studies, for the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disturbances and disorders.  Common sleep problems include insomnia, sleep apnea and restless leg syndrome (RLS.)  Sleep disorders are widespread and can have significant consequences for the health of affected individuals; a poor night’s rest can affect everything from memory and concentration to health and relationships.  Spalding Regional’s Center for Sleep Medicine is open seven nights a week and also available for daytime studies for the convenience of our patients.  For more information on the Center for Sleep Medicine at Spalding Regional, visit our website, www.spaldingregional.com or call 770-467-6150.
