Spalding Regional Histotechnologist Honored

Georgia Society for Histotechnology Recognizes Local Woman

GRIFFIN, GA – July 5, 2010-  Harriet Baker of the Histology Department for Spalding Regional Medical Center was recently honored as Histotechnologist of the Year for 2010 by the Georgia Society for Histotechnology.   

Ms. Baker originally came to Spalding Regional in 1999 as a buyer in Materials Management.  Later serving as Secretary in the Laboratory she developed a passion for Histology, the study of the microscopic anatomy of cells and tissues, while assisting the Pathologist with descriptions of specimens.  Ms. Baker was able to train through Spalding Regional’s “On the Job Training Program” and became a certified Histologist.

Today Ms. Baker is Supervisor of the Histology Department at Spalding Regional and also serves as Registrar for the Georgia Society for Histotechnology.  She resides in Griffin.
