Every 3 minutes a woman in the U.S. is diagnosed with breast cancer. The key to fighting this disease is early detection, through regular mammograms and monthly breast self-exams.

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Spalding Regional Medical Center’s Breast Awareness Team educated more than 800 women in our community about this important message.

Spalding Regional Medical Center employees also recognize the importance of early detection. In fact, more than 100 Spalding Regional Medical Center employees signed pledges to either perform their monthly breast self-exam or encourage their spouse or significant other to do so.

Pink ribbons have been placed on the trees in front of the hospital to represent their pledge and bring awareness to this message.
