Inpatient and Outpatient Cancer Care



 

Inpatient hospital care

Cancer patients who are admitted to Spalding Regional will stay and receive care on the Medical / Oncology Unit on the 1st floor of the hospital. During your stay, you’ll receive compassionate care from our board certified physicians, chemotherapy certified nurses and trained medical professionals. The unit has consistently received high marks from patients in our patient satisfaction surveys.  

Other services include:

  • All new state-of-the-art beds to help you feel as comfortable as possible
  • Access to clinical trials
  • Special-order meals for chemotherapy patients
  • Pastoral care for spiritual and emotional support
  • Case managers available to assist patients with their emotional, economic and social needs as well as help identify community resources  

Outpatient care and services

Spalding Regional offers a variety of outpatient services for cancer patients, including IV and transfusion therapy as well as chemotherapy. The unit features reclining chairs, TV and VCRs as well as additional seating for family or friends.  

The Center for Rehabilitation Services at Spalding Regional also offers a range of outpatient services to help patients with their recovery. The trained physical, occupational and speech therapists can help patients recover from a variety of conditions.  

The center also offers lymphedema therapy. Lymphedema occurs when your lymph nodes are blocked or the lymph passages are swelled. This condition is commonly caused by surgery or radiation treatment for cancer. A certified lymphedema therapist can assist patients reduce lymphedema symptoms with exercises, compression, education and instruction.
